Sorry, I don't have detailed results or anything... I don't remember them much. The top 3 for each tournament were posted a couple days ago, but I don't even know what those top 3 were. Anyway... the Break, as an arcade, kicks ass. Tons of good games (with WORKING controllers!!!) including some cool stuff like Quiz and Dragons and Puzzle Fighter... that new Konami shooting game Evil Night is one big piece of crap, I just wanted to say... even with all those people, it didn't get too bad inside. It was pretty crowded at times (well almost all the time), but it never got unbearably hot and it didn't even smell bad. I guess all that deodorant talk beforehand did some good... The food at the Break is pretty good too. Practice play on Friday- this actually wasn't too bad. The lines were a bit long, but it was fun getting to play against a bunch of different people. For the rest of the tournament, I hardly got to play any SF at all, since all the machines were used for the tournaments. Sirlin showed off a kickass Alpha 2 Ryu and a good Zangief (something like 25 win streak)... he even beat Valle a couple times (Valle's fierce button broke, or something like that). First tournament, SFA3... something like 115 people. This thing took forever... like 2 or 3 o'clock to around 11 (using four A3 machines). Plenty of good players... I was a little disappointed, my Mika crossup VC was nearly useless. This machine is DEFINITELY not the same as the one in Virginia, I'm sure of it. Crossups worked normally. A3 just took forever... I didn't get to see most of the matches, it was crowded and hot and you never knew when a good match was coming up. All I know is that Valle won. I think SSF2T was next.... started on Saturday and finished the next day when the arcade opened. A bunch of good players, apparently people still remember how to play this game. I got mowed over in 2 straight... I couldn't throw, I just sugged it. The Norfolk crew, who I expected to completely ruke this whole tournament, somehow managed to just barely lose some matches... I'm not really sure how that happened. However the worst player in their group Gary (who is still pretty good) won the winners bracket somehow. John Choi won the losers bracket, and then plowed right over Gary to win. SF3 Second Impact started up in a small crowded section of the arcade with two small machines and not much room to see, so I didn't see much. I had a good close match with Bob Painter, his Alex vs my jab jab jab jab Hugo. We both suck, but it was fun... I lost in the end. Parry a jumpin- super grab works pretty well for Alex. I only watched a little bit... looked like a lot of big combos and a lot of parrying to me. I don't really know a lot about the game. Valle got the win. SFA2 was next... I thought this tournament totally ruked, but a lot of other people said it was boring for some reason. It had a bunch of weird matches and unexpected results. A few people just started ruking out of nowhere... Eddie Lee was pulling lucky charms out of his ass, as he beat Kris G., beat Sirlin's Gief with Rose (though Sirlin countered with Ryu and won the match)... I was scheduled to play him and was sure I'd ruke him with Gief, but then I got called up to play Choi instead, where I lost. Eddie ended up with something like 5th. Some NJ guy named Mike Cheng somehow ended up with 3rd place... I have no idea how. He lost to David Wright's Zangief with Chun Li in practice (Gief vs Chun is a HUGE mismatch btw) and then gets 3rd? Cheng didn't suck, but I don't know how this happened. Kris G. screwed around and used Dan and lost early, and then lost to Eddie Lee later on... it made no sense, but Eddie was just lucky that day. Omar somehow lost before getting very far. A Cali player named Thao (who kicks ass in A3 with Dhalsim btw) was doing pretty well with an unorthodox Chun Li (all ACs, few CCs, no low RH)... I guess he must have been off against me (he barely eliminated my Zangief with Chun), then he apparently turned it on, taking out both Choi and Valle in 4 rounds each (I wish I saw this). Finals were Sirlin vs Thao, which was a back and forth match the whole way. The first best out of 7 came down the the final round, and Sirlin stuck his face into a CC that he initially blocked to lose the fight. Then the second best of 7... this one came down to the final last 2 or 3 hits. It was so close the entire time, but Sirlin finally figured out that Thao doesn't like Rose's low strong, and he barely won a very close match to get the win. MVC started on the same small machines as 2i... I suck at MVC, and most people there were pretty good spazzers. I just did the lockdown and DQed myself from the tournament when I found that my opponent was a lot better than me. I couldn't see much, and most of MVC looks alike to me. Eddie Lee won, Valle got third I think. Viscant got 4th, and Spiderdan got 9th I think. HF was pretty crappy, it seemed like a comic book store tournament. They just wanted to cram it in there instead of canceling the tournament, but there were only like 70 minutes before the arcade closes. A lot of people had left before this tournament, and there were only two HF boards because of this... the tournament was also single elimination. Most people sucked at HF, with a couple of exceptions. John Choi won.
